This year’s Halloween festivities in Collinsville will take place October 30, 2010 starting at 6 p.m. The Halloween Parade will gather in Downtown Collinsville and the parade will begin at approximately 7 p.m.

I haven’t heard any official details on who will be performing, but I imagine it will run similarly to years past, with music, candy canon, contests and performances from local groups. As always the featured Halloween parade is a sight to see with a lot of amazing and creatively put together costumes. Check out the photos page to see a few pictures from the last two years.

Based on the last two years, I recommend bringing an umbrella. Both years have received a lot of rain on the night of the event. Both times the rain came luckily after the parade and never stopped the party or fun. I’ll try to keep the post updated as I hear some more details.

Have a great memory of the Halloween parade in Collinsville? Feel free to share it in the comments. Do you have any pictures of previous Collinsville Halloween parties you’re willing to share? I’d love to post more pictures so people can get a feel for the event, send me an email using the email form and I’ll get in touch with you.

The Parade started at 10am near the Canton Intermediate School and traveled down through Collinsville and ended with a special Memorial Day ceremony. We met with friends along the parade route. My wife left our nice camera at home, so I’m afraid I had to document the experience with my cell phone. If you have any pictures of the event and would like/allow me to post them on the site contact me via the contact form on the contact page.

Memorial weekend was beautiful and the festivities I felt were a great reminder of how great our city is and a remembrance of the sacrifice given by so many in order to have it such a great place. Surely it was a day and time to remember fallen military, but also a day to celebrate public service members like firemen and women and a time to recognize volunteers local leaders who dedicate so much time to the youth and more in our community.

Opening for Marco Benevento Trio will be a local band called the McLovins.

Marco Benevento Trio is an experimental Jazz group, I’ve included some youtube clips to help give you an idea of their music. I’ve also grabbed a clip of the McLovins. From what I’ve read they are a local High School band that play several covers and their own material. I listened to a few tracks on youtube and they seem worth checking out.

Downright Music and Art is located at 41 Bridge St. Collinsville, CT. It’s near the bridge in Collinsville, near The Crown and Hammer Pub and in the same building as La Salles Market.

If you’ve ever been to an event in Collinsville, have volunteered or worked at all with the community in regard to events or businesses, chances are you’re probably familiar with Kathy Taylor. She’s constantly in contact with local business leaders and crucial to organizing events in the area. I ran into her a couple of weeks ago and talked a little bit about Collinsvillect.org. She creates a newsletter for the local businesses to help promote them and keep them up-to-date on things in the community. This list of November happenings in the surrounding area is from the last edition of the newsletter.
